Is it possible to record analog sound from an 8500's AV module? I can't figure out if my potato box even knows it's there. Playback works just fine-- I have soundcore and dmasound in /etc/modules and adequate permissions on /dev/dsp. Playback from the cd drive works fine. If I go from the headphone jack of my walkman to the microphone jack of the 8500, sound goes through the 8500's speaker without any trouble. But recording-- either through the mic jack or the AV module-- is a mystery.
Other miscellaneous info: aumix lists the following channels: Vol Spkr Line Mic CD Pcm2 Rec Changing pcm2 or rec doesn't seem to affect anything. I'm using wavr to do the recording-- all it's able to do right now is make me empty files. -bill
