I wasn't able to get the mouse to work at all (under Debian-ppc 2.2r3) until I changed this in the XF86config file: Device "/dev/mouse" to: Device "/dev/input/mice" Just a side note: I also had to change this: Protocol "BusMouse" to: Protocol "imps/2" Which I believe I also picked up from one of his posts.
