audio CDs don't work under 2.4.7-pre6benh20010717 on TiBook

Has anyone gotten an audio CD to play back under a recent kernel on
the TiBook? cdplay returns 'nodisc', even though I can hear the
DVD-ROM drive begin to spin up, and eject works. Is audio CD playback
just plain broken at the moment? If so, I'll stop worrying about it.
