Hm, do you have a /usr/share/info directory? If not, something is broken; create it, and try reinstalling those packages. > BTW, is there a way I can check overall system consistency in case > there are other gotchas there that I need to know about? There is "debsums" for verifying the MD5 sums of files in packages.
