you don't need to do that. if you need to use the modem directly as your normal user account add yourself to the dialout group. if your just trying to dial ppp you don't need permisions to /dev/ttyS* just add yourself to the dip group and use `pon' -- Ethan Benson http://www.alaska.net/~erbenson/
