Ok. So I applied jeffm's endian patch to the reiserfsprogs from debian, and hand patched the hunk from misc.c that failed. mkreiserfs runs fine, and after rebooting and choosing the kernel with the endian patch. I can now mount the reiserfs partition. Now to make reiserfs my root partition. jas.
