I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the information in the appendices of LinuxPPC's User's Guide. I didn't mean to suggest that their way of doing things was ideal (or even desirable, although I use BootX myself as we only have the one Mac, and there just isn't a replacement for Photoshop or Illustrator). The appendices on Open Firmware should be useful no matter what boot method you choose.
