I ended up following advice gleaned from the linux-ppc faq0matic. I bought a cheap piece-o-shit USB mouse, set up gpm to use that and the adb mouse, and then told XFree86 to use gpm as the mouse. Before that, I spent a lot of time in twm. ;-) Stephen
