Hi, folks, I'm trying to sort out some problems on my machine (PowerCenter 132, running potato) in terms of package dependencies. The big issue, of course, is Perl.
What is the correct name for the current Perl package, perl or perl5? Should packages that depend on perl be fixed so that they depend on perl5, or vice versa? My specific problems revolve around getting WML installed: wml depends on perl5 and eperl; eperl depends on perl; perl and perl5 conflict. Oh, yeah, and the most recent version of eperl isn't new enough for wml, either. (sgml-data and weblint also depend on perl.) It looks like we currently have the following Perl packages installed (dpkg -l 'perl*' | grep '^ii'): ii perl-5.004 5.004.05-1 Larry Wall's Practical Extracting and Report ii perl-5.004-base 5.004.05-1 The Pathologically Eclectic Rubbish Lister ii perl-5.004-doc 5.004.05-3 Man pages and pod docs for Perl ii perl-5.005 5.005.03-1 Larry Wall's Practical Extracting and Report ii perl-base 5.004.05-1 Fake package assuring that one of the -base ii perl-tk 800.014-1.1 Perl module providing the Tk graphics librar Thanks, C. +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Behind the counter a boy with a shaven head stared vacantly into space, a dozen spikes of microsoft protruding from the socket behind his ear. +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ C.M.
