Hello, I also have the same problem on my 15" PowerBook5,6. Runnning a 2.6.12-rc4 kernel with CONFIG_I2C_KEYWEST=y. Still, the keyboard illumination tabs in powerprefs are disabled and the backlight is not working with a configured pbbuttonsd. I would love if you got this working!
