I've seen X lock-up from time to time, but I have an ati rage video chip, and 
you probably have a radeon chip.  Still, if the problem occurs at reasonably 
regular intervals, you could try working at a console for extended periods to 
see if the problem occurs without X running.  Problem is, you'd have a 
different workload etc, so that might not narrow things down all that much.

If it's really when you move it, as opposed to just a coincidence... do you 
have any external memory or airport cards installed?  They may be loose, and 
disconnecting when it moves.
