OK. So if I wanted to rebuild a kernel without hotplug, I just unset CONFIG_HOTPLUG ?
Well if you just want to disable the functionality then:
]$ apt-get remove --purge hotplug
No need to gut it from the kernel unless you really want to. You have to remove userspace stuff either way.
