En la seccion ATA ... hay una opcion para compilar el kernel y asi tu HDD sera 'hda'. No puedo responderte a la pregunta porque aun no prove hdparm pero con 2.6.x deberias tenerlo asi y quizas sea la clave; quien sabe ;) Siento no poder ayudarte mas, saludos.
