Yes, it only has a blacklist of files that it won't install (like "list" since it's for internal use). The directory might be /var/lib/dpkg/info/tmp.ci/ in fact to ensure that it's on the same filesystem and can be moved around with rename. > It does seem like it would be worth documenting /var/lib/dpkg/info > somewhere non-normative.
