Could you give more details? Like what pages this occurs on?
Do you see this in xdvi, or is it in the printed output? However, I
must confess that this seems more like a problem with your TeX
processing environment than with the fsstnd, since I don't see the
fsstnd doing anything special with fonts. I just viewd the dvi file
using xdvi, and I do not see anything like what you report.
