It mainly concentrates on programming APIs - with UNIX 98 adding internet protocols & services and Java.
The defined Directory Structure and Devices are described online at: http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/7908799/xbd/files.html Personally, I think a symlink would accomplish the job and keep all parties happy.
