I'm hauling this out onto debian-policy since I think this needs more of an airing than the bug system. Please let's not start this debate. The problem with uncompressing docs that "aren't big" is that nobody agrees on the definition. By doing "eval $(lesspipe)", you can get less to view compressed files without any effort on your part. I feel it better to err on the side of compressing all docs then to uncompress some of them because they are "small".
