That sounds excellent.  I've always been a bit wary about the
"install and start everything at once" approach taken by Debian.

OK.

What my code currently does is to check for the presence of a startup
file for the current runlevel, and then call it if it's present, AFTER
update-rc.d has been run.  This would do the right thing with your
suggestion, too.
