Package: audacity Version: 1.3.3-1+b1 Severity: normal Most of the operations in audacity's effects menu, if repeated with Ctrl-R on a different segment of a track, do exactly the same thing as they would have done if chosen again from the menu. The "Amplify..." plugin is a glaring exception. If you choose it again from the menu and accept the defaults, it amplifies the currently selected segment to a peak of 0 dB, just like it did with the previous segment, even if the amplification factor required to do that is different. However, if you repeat it with Ctrl-R, it applies the same amplification factor that it had applied to the previously selected segment. This is almost certainly not what you want.
Much more user-friendly behavior would be to remember the user's chosen peak volume in decibels, and adjust the amplification factor to hit that peak volume with each successive segment. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages audacity depends on: ii libasound2 1.0.14a-2 ALSA library ii libc6 2.6.1-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libexpat1 1.95.8-4 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libgcc1 1:4.2.2-3 GCC support library ii libglib2.0-0 2.14.2-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.12.0-3 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libid3tag0 0.15.1b-10 ID3 tag reading library from the M ii libjack0 0.103.0-6 JACK Audio Connection Kit (librari ii libmad0 0.15.1b-2.1 MPEG audio decoder library ii libogg0 1.1.3-2 Ogg Bitstream Library ii libsndfile1 1.0.17-4 Library for reading/writing audio ii libstdc++6 4.2.2-3 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libvorbis0a 1.2.0.dfsg-2 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisenc2 1.2.0.dfsg-2 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libvorbisfile3 1.2.0.dfsg-2 The Vorbis General Audio Compressi ii libwxbase2.6-0 2.6.3.2.2-1 wxBase library (runtime) - non-GUI ii libwxgtk2.6-0 2.6.3.2.2-1 wxWidgets Cross-platform C++ GUI t audacity recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
