It has almost no external dependencies, only an XML parsing library (expat or libxml are both supported). It is designed for both POSIX and Windows systems. I worked with libstrophe upstream past months to make it suitable for Debian. I helped them with autotools, so that shared library is built along the static one. Encouraged them to tag relases in github, and together we closed some pull requests. Libstrophe is used by profanity.im, a console XMPP client inspired by IRSSI, which I intend to pack too, this week.
