Dear mentors, one month after my sponsorship request for "gnome-session-shutdown", of which I am the upstream author, I realize that I did not include a long description of the package (suggested in DebianMentorsFaq, 3.4). So here it is. "gnome-session-shutdown" is a clone of the "shutdown" command that will gracefully end the GNOME session before bringing the system down. It makes possible to easily bring the system down from a terminal (or from within a script) with a "shutdown"-like syntax, closing all the GNOME applications and ending the GNOME session in a safe way instead of just terminating the display manager, without requiring root privileges. "gnome-session-shutdown" tries to replicate as much as possible the behavior of the "shutdown" command, but will trigger the shutdown via the GNOME session manager D-Bus interface (like "gnome-session-quit" does) instead of just issuing a SIGTERM signal to all processes. > To access further information about this package, please visit the > following URL: > > http://mentors.debian.net/package/gnome-session-shutdown Reviews and suggestions are welcome too.
