Hi Arno, I admit my reply was a bit provocative, but I gave it because it desolates me that some statements on this list are very dogmatic. It is very important to justify our technical decisions on facts rather than traditions, seniority, or imaginary truths. Also we must make efforts on writing accurate statements. Experience proves that works that are not specific to Debian but that use a native format are accepted in our archive; it is therefore misleading to write that they can not be uploaded, and that it is not a matter of choice. Of course, choices may be wrong. I am ready to defend mine, but I would not like to suggest that using the native format is always the best choice. Indeed, it is often the wrong one. But one can not justify to not use native formats by an upload restriction that does not exist. That is the main reason why I jumped in that thread.
