I don't think that when upstream has those 3rd party packages included with extra effort (supporting them in their build systems, in some cases even supporting conditional-building with either the in-source copy or use the copy already installed in a system, freshen upstream from time to time, etc) would consider removing them just because somebody asks, even if it comes from a well-known distribution like Debian/Ubuntu. At least the packages that I'm thinking of, won't do it in a million years and would insist that it's better for their target users (and informal surveys of users' opinions seem to confirm that).
