Dear mentors, I am looking for a sponsor for my package "bro".
* Package name : bro Version : 1.5-2 Upstream Author : Vern Paxson <v...@icir.org> & Robin Sommer <ro...@icir.org> & many others * URL : http://bro-ids.org * License : http://bro-ids.org/license.html Section : net It builds these binary packages: bro - Policy based intrusion detection system bro-control - interactive shell for operating Bro installations. bro-doc - Policy based intrusion detection system documentation. bro-utils - Utilities for the BRO Intrusion Detection System libbroccoli3 - Bro Communications library libbroccoli3-dev - Bro Communications library -- development python-broccoli - Bro Communications library -- python bindings python-subnettree - Python library for matching addresses using longest-prefix matchi My motivation for maintaining this package is: I've been running bro on Debian for a few years now installed in /usr/local. Most users run bro on FreeBSD, I am hoping that having it packaged on Debian(and Debian/kFreeBSD) will make it really easy for new users to get a Bro installation up and running. The package can be found on mentors.debian.net: - URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/b/bro - Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main contrib non-free - dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/b/bro/bro_1.5-2.dsc The package is not ready to be uploaded yet, I still have a bunch of lintian warnings to go through, including writing what will be the first man page for many of the included binaries(which I will send upstream). That said, I would like some feedback on how I am building the package now, specifically if the debian/rules and debian/control files look sane. being a multibinary+library+python package this is probably one of the hardest things to package, but I figure if I can tackle this I can do anything.
