For the sake of cleanness, I will use: $(MAKE) --directory=source CPPFLAGS='' CFLAGS='$(CFLAGS)' With this, I erase the arch-specific options which should anyway not be in CPPFLAGS, and I use the Debian CFLAGS instead.
