What if you link with the library filename directly? As in:
gcc -W -Wall -O3 foo.c -L../lib -lbar -lbaz /usr/lib/lufs/liblufs.so.0 Then the binary dependency will be on "/usr/lib/lufs/liblufs.so.0", and not "liblufs.so.0", which is what you would get when you use "-llufs". dpkg-shlibdep or some such program may complain (mildly), but this is the best way I know of how to deal with it.
