I need a sponsor for this package: Package: libnss-mysql-bg Description: NSS module for using MySQL as a naming service This package provides a Name Service Switch module that allows MySQL to act as a name service. Its configuration is very flexible by allowing to set an SQL query per nss call (getpwnam,getpwuid,...). It currently support storage of passwd, group and shadow informations.
I386 and source packages: deb http://manu.home-dn.net/debian/libnss-mysql-bg sid main deb-src http://manu.home-dn.net/debian/libnss-mysql-bg sid main Upstream: http://libnss-mysql.sf.net My comments: You saw there is already a libnss-mysql module in debian, you're right. This one is not necessary better, it is different. While the current in debian as a configuration closed to other nss modules or to the libpam-mysql module which make it a great module for most of uses, this one as a different configuration wich let us integrate nss in any already builded mysql database (an existing groupware database for example). It does this by letting us choose an sql query per nss call. There are people who use it and who need it...so I think we should make it available in debian. The name story: The actual mysql nss module available in debian is called libnss-mysql, but it's original name is "nss-mysql". The one I proposed is originally called "libnss-mysql" ... so I proposed to the upstream (Ben Goodwin) to make it available in debian as "libnss-mysql-bg"...that's all (folks) :-/
