Use this: Replaces: powstatd-crypt (<< 1.5.1-2) Conflicts: powstatd-crypt (<< 1.5.1-2), ups-monitor Provides: powstatd-crypt That way, the conflicts+replaces are the same, and provides is there, and apt should be able to tell automatically that powstatd-crypt is to be upgraded to powstatd.
