This really doesn't make much sense. Autoconf is a very useful tool, regardless of the language you are writing in. Of the autoconf programs in debian, what percentage of them would compile without an ANSI C compiler? Not that many. In fact, there aren't any K&R C compilers that even run on Debian (AFAIK).
