I guess it is a measure of how the project has changed that such a statement can be regarded with such dismay. We can, and we should: how else can you actually improve the quality of Debian unless improving our packages is not an integral part of it? We are more than glorified packagers. An ability to do a security fix is a far cry from having the basic skills to ``modify the code of their packages''. If you can't do the latter, you can't even evaluate the quality of fixes being submitted to you, and your package is likely to suffer. Have we accepted that mediocrity is really our lot? What happened to the quest for excellence? I joined an effort to create the *BEST* distribution of linux, not merely a feel good, prolific one. manoj -- The Commandments of the EE: Beware of lightning that lurketh in an uncharged condenser lest it cause thee to bounce upon thy buttocks in a most embarrassing manner. Cause thou the switch that supplieth large quantities of juice to be opened and thusly tagged, that thy days may be long in this earthly vale of tears. Prove to thyself that all circuits that radiateth, and upon which the worketh, are grounded and thusly tagged lest they lift thee to a radio frequency potential and causeth thee to make like a radiator too. Tarry thou not amongst these fools that engage in intentional shocks for they are not long for this world and are surely unbelievers.
