>From memory, according to the Gates biography "Hard Drive", this scheme is deliberate by Microsoft.. they wanted their software to be easily remembered. "PowerPoint" is an odd name for a presentation program, but then Microsoft didn't write it in the first place, just licensed it or purchased the company (AFAIK).
