Hi! I'm a new developer and I'm getting ready to upload my first package, ez-ipupdate (a dynamic dns client, see ITP in debian-devel).
Anyway, I have a few concerns with it. There they are: Lintian (v1.117) complains about the 'config' and 'templates' file. I saw this was a reported bug, but I don't know if I have to wait til the bug is closed or work my way around it. If it's the latter, how do I do it? How do the rest of the people with debconf files do this? I did a little script to put in /etc/ppp/ip-up.d, so ez-ipupdate is called everytime the PPP link goes up. Anyway, I'm not sure about what permissions should this script have. 0700? 0755? It's 0700 right now, but I don't know if the FHS says something about it (tried some greps, with no result; I didn't read the whole thing yet O:-)). Also, should I ask the user at install time if he/she wants to have this script installed? I't useful for dial-up users (which I guess are the majority of the people that use dynamic dns services), but maybe there're users that don't need/want this. I could put the question at 'medium' or 'low' level so by default the script got installed for the most part of the users. Another Lintian thing: itgives a this warning when building the package: W: ez-ipupdate: maintainer-script-lacks-debhelper-token debian/postinst I'm not very sure about what it means. Ok, I know, the postinst script lacks a debhelper token, it says. But ... what token? How should it be? And that's all.
