Hello mentors,
Theres been alot of discussion lately about cluster maintainance, and from what I see there is little co-ordination in facing this need. What I would like to see is a more co-ordinated effort, and thus I was considering posting the message I have appended below. However, I'm fairly new to debian and I'm not sure if this is the way this should be handled. Can a few of you please read this and let me know if this is a reasonable idea? Thanks, Chris ------------------------------------ Proposed mail for debian-devel Hi all, Recently there have been alot of expressed interests in a way to maintain multiple debian linux machines, all with similar configuration. This just goes to show how popular debian is becoming - and how far our reputation as the most manageable system is taking us. However, what we don't seem to have is a clear-cut answer for any of these queries. This is because a) we don't have a great way to do this ATM, and b) we haven't decided how to tackle this problem. Now I realise there are probably a dozen off us working on different ways of doing this, but what seems to be lacking is some form of project control. What I would like to propose is that a few of us interested in this project form a seperate development group to tackle this problem, and design and possibly implement a fully rounded solution. This would allow us to produce something that addresses all needs, yet frees us from the slow process of development in a public formum such as the debian-devel list. Of course, I could be mistaken and there may be a project team tackling this allready. If so, perhaps they would like to follow up on this mail and let people know how they can help, and perhaps they could benefit from allowing a bit more input into their design plans. Finally, if people are interested in partaking in such a project then please reply to this mail stating your interest.
