Turns out that had already been don is editing the Rules file in fact...other than adding the "debian" directory... there were only about 3 or 4 lines of change to the original source in the patch file! I have already gotten a new version of the upstream source and incorperated the changes so that I now have the latest version! I must say that the debian packaging system is much easier than I thought once I got into it! > Hope this answers your questions.
