In short, it is a translation layer to run hardware video decode acceleration on nvidia graphics card. We have several video encode/decode api on Linux like VA-API, VDPAU, NVDEC and etc. However, Firefox and Chromium are designed to support VA-API mainly, while VA-API is limited to Intel and AMD. Hardware video acceleration is quite important for mobile device when playing 4K/8K videos. And this package provides hardware video acceleration on Firefox for nvidia users.
