Isn't it a bit extreme to repack the source because of a file that is
automatically generated, but is still distributable?
I could instead set this file aside before building, force it to be
regenerated, and restore it in the clean target. That's similar to
what's done for the docs: a version of the generated html files is
included in the tarball but it's not used, instead they are regenerated
during build.
