Description : A fork of OpenSSH with enhanced performance and
functionality
Website : https://www.psc.edu/hpn-ssh-home
HPNSSH was first developed around 15 years ago to address significant
performance issue in OpenSSH due to undersized buffers in the
implementation of SSHv2. Throughput performance gains of two orders of
magnitude were common. Since then additional functionality includes:
* resumption of failed SCP transfers
* the use of none/null encryption after authentication for data transfers
* A threaded AES-CTR cipher implementation
* OOB reporting on TCP stack instruments for diagnostics
* Various performance enhancements
On well tuned 10Gb connected hosts throughput rates of more than 8Gb/s
are possible.
HPNSSH uses different naming nomenclature in order to allow for side by
side installation with OpenSSH.
Current development work has been support by a grant for the National
Science Foundation and is being conducted at the Pittsburgh
Supercomputing Center which is part of Carnegie Mellon University.
