You could ask upstream for clarification; it may be that you only need to include the unmodified file with the source package (which you would do anyway), and that properly editing it for inclusion in the copyright file is ok. Otherwise, the worst case is that you need to include license.txt /somewhere/ in the binary package -- though not in /u/s/d/<package>/copyright, which we must be able to append information to as needed. If the upstream is on vacation for a few weeks and you think this needs to be resolved before then, the latter is probably the correct interim solution. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer
