I don't think anyone wants to start a flamewar, but there is a middle
ground between "just wait" and "the new maintainer process is hopeless".

If James is unable to keep up with the demands of processing applicants,
perhaps this is not a job that's best given to a single individual?
If there were two or three DAM's, each capable of acting independently,
then this stage of the process wouldn't be such a bottleneck when one
DAM becomes less available for personal reasons.
