Thanks a lot for your opinion. For the moment I decided to exclude all architectures with failing tests and ask ftpmaster to remove the other architectures. In addition I've added a warning to README.Debian about the current status and that this package might be removed in the next Debian release. Hope that can be considered a sensible compromise.
