Greetings, In order to address #972983, I brought a few changes to the package src:python-ete3. Changes are available on Salsa for review, and maybe upload:

The package is lintian clean, except for a few pedantic markers.
You can grant me DM permissions if you think it would make sense
for the maintenance of the package.
