Hi y'all

LTS and ELTS provide backports of the stable kernel for all releases from Stretch to Bullseye. This is a very nice feature making it possible to run the same kernel version on a whole fleet with diverse Debian releases. There are also appropriate meta-packages like linux-image-6.1-amd64 in every release. One caveat though: No meta-packages including major.minor ie. linux-image-6.1-* exist in Debian stable.

So I'd propose that linux-image-amd64 on Debian stable simply
> Provides: linux-image-6.1-amd64
and likewise for other flavors.

What would have to be done to get this implemented?

Cheers

Christopher
