Just to be clear, I did not work on the initial LTS upload, mostly because, with my maintainer hat on, I wanted to fix unstable first -> let it settle there (because I knew that it was a breaking change!) -> get it into bullseye -> LTS -> ELTS. But LTS upload went first and hence the regression. I have fixed unstable and have a similar patch for LTS. Another thing that I'd like to bring up is a discussion with the Debian security team and Ubuntu security team before pushing this further. - u
