Hi Hans,

Have you looked at the Debian live manual? It is comprehensive and has a good
section on persistence [1] - it is likely more up to date than that post,
however I appreciate it's much longer!

The post you're copying from looks like it takes a convoluted path towards
building things - I am quite familiar with the process and the
'ExtraBootParams=$(XARGS <<eobp' etc had my brain spinning a little.

It's worth reading the manual and stripping it back to basics. I strongly
recommend thinking about the section on managing a configuration at [2] - auto
scripts will make things easier to track, and the above section on persistence
slots in there too.

As the other reply suggests, package lists [3] will help keep what you want
well organised.

This would give you more reproducibility and control as your understanding and
development progresses.

You can peruse my personal live image at [4] for some inspiration - I have an
auto script that has persistence and some packages and other refinements
defined. If you're doing this under git, a good .gitignore is needed as the
system generates a lot of files you don't need to commit!

All the best in your exploration!
