Hi,

With EndOf10 I hope to convince some family members to try Debian instead of
buying new hardware for Windows 11 (PC, printer, scanner, etc...).

So I tried making a USB stick with Debian Live 13.2 xfce4, and added a
persistence partition following the instructions.

However, it only works if at the bootloader prompt I press TAB and append
"persistence" to the kernel command line. This is an unacceptable barrier for
my use case, as forgetting this step leads to data loss on next reboot.

So I need to customize the ISO to change the bootloader options (ideally, boot
with persistence enabled if no input within 5 seconds, with options for
installation).

Can this be done by patching the ISO file in place (if so, how? maybe some dd
invocation with same-size bootloader config file with different content?)

or do I have to rebuild the whole thing with my small customizations?

Where are the config files for the official debian live ISOs available online?

which version of the live tools should I use?

Thanks,

Claude
