There appears to be a problem with the raspi-firmware package being incorrectly installed on non-Pi systems, causing a problem (because for most platforms it does not exist)
In the post below, "it" generally refers to raspi-firmware. Rather than paraphrase the issue as described to me, I will paste it verbatim: "The Debian Live docs say you will get the OS version that is installed on your PC. Our 2.9.2 ISO was built on Debian 12.4 and I also added a command to suppress its installation just in case. But when the build scripts ran I could see it was attempting to install it. At the time, I installed LinuxCNC on a test machine which has not done anything since. I confirmed Debian 12.4 was installed and also confirmed raspi-firmware was not installed at the time. The last few days some security updates must have been released and there were reports of errors when doing an apt upgrade on the forum. I confirmed this behaviour (the next RT kernel version 6.1.0-17 install failed right at the end) Tonight I checked, and sure enough raspberry-firmware was installed. I can only assume the upgrade installed it. Based on a post by Tommy, I removed it as follows: sudo apt update sudo dpkg -P raspi-firmware sudo apt dist-upgrade This resolved the error and after a reboot. the latest 6.1.0-17 RT kernel was installed I have updated my Google Drive instructions about this and also put some notes about using Debian's distro and Andy's script. Please review and advise your suggestions. I think it's now ready for the content to be transferred to the 2.9.2 Docs. Could you guys do a bit of testing on this installer issue? I think we should report the bug to the debian-live team, It could be because we are using the RT kernel do you think? Debian use the Debian-Live installer to build their distros so it is very weird we have this issue. I have pored over our installer many times looking for anything that might cause this.
