Package: live-config Version: 11.0.4 Severity: wishlist Note to self:
When running an older live image without persistence (e.g. sid), the unattended upgrades package will: 1) consume network bandwidth by downloading updated packages 2) consume memory due to the overlay filesystem 3) disrupt openQA tests due to a longer startup time and a popup about packages that can be updated The downloaded packages will be discarded when the machine is shut down, so overall this is a waste of resources that can be avoided. Example: a GNOME image for Sid from 2023-09-06T08:10:14Z needs 632MB in /run/live/overlay after booting and downloading updated packages. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'testing-debug') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.4.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages live-config depends on: pn live-config-systemd | live-config-backend <none> Versions of packages live-config recommends: ii iproute2 6.4.0-1 ii keyboard-configuration 1.222 ii live-config-doc 11.0.4 pn live-tools <none> ii locales 2.37-7 ii locales-all 2.37-7 ii sudo 1.9.14p2-1 pn user-setup <none> Versions of packages live-config suggests: ii pciutils 1:3.10.0-2 ii wget 1.21.3-1+b2
