This is a feature request to adopt / re-implement grub-live. It provides functionality to "Boot existing Host Operating System or VM into Live Mode". 1. install Debian normally. 2. install grub-live 3. choose in grub boot menu the existing, already installed Debian into either persistent or live mode The grub-live package: https://gitlab.com/whonix/grub-live Essentially just only 1 grub configuration drop-in file: https://gitlab.com/whonix/grub-live/-/blob/master/etc/grub.d/11_linux_live Screenshots here: https://www.whonix.org/wiki/Grub-live Potential future enhancements: - More generic package name that includes implementations for boot loaders other than grub. - dracut support
