According to apt's manpages, the sources are listed in order of preference.
Since the deb: file... line generated by live-helper is at the end of the
sources.list, it takes last priority behind everything else in sources.list and
sources.list.d. If the file generate were changed to something like:

it would bring the file: to higher than sources.list and leave room on both
sides for the builder to decide where he wants it in the list of custom sources.
I didn't include this as a patch as it is only one of many ways of making the
change and I will leave it up to the maintainers to decide just how they want
to handle things.
