You probably hit a limit in the ISO-9660 filesystem format (the filesystem used on CD-ROMs). The volume label can have only certain number of characters. Perhaps the live-helper scripts could check for this condition to detect the problem early during the build process but the deficiency is in the CD-ROM format, not live-helper.
